Accotding to many historians, the US accession to the war in 1917 was of significant importance for the final resolution of the conflict, and thus also the revival of the independedt Polish state. In the article, we analyse this issue on the basic of contemporary Polish school history education. Textbooks for high school and technical school students were used as the source. The Polish Independence League established at the end of 1944 became the political representation of Piłsudski’s adherents in exile. The head office of the PIL was in London, where Piłsudski’s adherents published a bulletin ‘Listy z Londynu’ (Letters from London), and then a magazine ‘Za Wolność i Niepodległość’ (For Freedom and Independence) published irregularly, in which they promoted their political concepts. The Polish Independence League (PIL) was a political representation of Piłsudski’s followers in exile. The article presents the position of the PIL regarding the German issue after World War II. Michał Grażyński was the most outstanding expert on German issues in the ranks of Piłsudski’s followers. Before World War II, he was a long-term voivode of Silesia and a well-known politician, publicist and the president of the PIL in exile. Piłsudski’s followers repeatedly demanded that Western governments recognise the border on the Odra and Nysa Łużycka Rivers. Liga Niepodległości Polski utworzona w 1944 r. stała się polityczną reprezentacją piłsudczyków na emigracji. Przywódcą ruchu został znany dyplomata Juliusz Łukasiewicz. W 1950 r. na stanowisku prezesa zastąpił go Michał Grażyński, były wieloletni wojewoda śląski. Siedzibą władz naczelnych LNP był Londyn, gdzie piłsudczycy wydawali powielany biuletyn „Listy z Londynu”, a następnie czasopismo „Za Wolność i Niepodległość”. W analizach sytuacji w kraju specjalizował się Stefan Mękarski. Piłsudczycy uważali utworzony w końcu czerwca 1945 r.
